Liverpool – Sevilla. Alexander Vishnevskiy’s prediction
Both Liverpool and Sevilla boast impressive fan-bases in England and Spain respectively. The atmosphere at Anfield is spectacular at times, as is the atmosphere at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in Spain. It was the magic of Anfield that helped guide Liverpool to the final in defeating Man United, Borussia Dortmund and Villarreal. Sevilla also must thank their home stadium for some important wins. On the other hand, it is no secret that Sevilla have been in awful form on the road this season, domestically at least, with no wins in 19 Primera matches and only one win in seven games in Europe.
It will be interesting to see how both sides cope under huge pressure now they are far from their home grounds. I think that both will attack, and thus we should see an open game. After all things must be settled on the night, there are no second chances here. The previous Europa League final – Sevilla vs Dnipro – had a scoreline of 2:2 at half time. And Liverpool score and concede a lot in vital games like they did against Borussia Dortmund at home (4:3).
The reds come into this game without one of their key defenders Mamadou Sakho while Benoit Tremoulinas is out for Sevilla. These two key defensive absentees is another reason to suggest we could see an open game, one where the goals arrive. You can take the overs, but I expect both teams to score. Both finalists have strong attacking lines and the atmosphere will make them to go forward. Both teams to score at 1.80 is a nice deal.
