Lille desperate to find last season’s form
French champions Lille are having a shaky start to their season after shockingly beating PSG to the Ligue 1 title last season. In detail, Les Dogues lost four matches already this season in Ligue 1 and one in the Champions League. Notably, last season coach Gourvennec’s team lost just three matches in all season, that is in 38 games.
As a result of this deteriorating form, Lille find themselves in 11th position in Ligue 1 and fourth in UCL’s group G .. Similarly, in the Champions League Julien Lopetegui’s team drew their first two matches and are second in the group behind Salzburg.
As for Sevilla’s recent statistics, they scored in eight of their last ten matches and had five clean sheets. Moreover, Lopetegui must be very content with his defense that let in just 0.5 goals per match in the last ten. Hence, the Rojiblancos must take some risks in this game and maybe go for all three points against a team that are struggling to get in top form.
Lille vs Sevilla Prediction
Lille are looking for their first win in the CL this season and they need to find it here. Otherwise, it could be very late if they want to battle for a place in the knockout stages of the UCL. As we know the third-placed team plays in the Europa League, but all clubs prefer the UCL.
As for Sevilla, they need to be more adventurous in front of the opposing team’s goal. To illustrate in their last game against Celta and despite winning 1-0 they only had two shots on target. Surely Lopetegui needs to instruct his midfielders to join the attack more.
