Leicester to keep their CL spot safe
It has been a very successful season for Leicester so far in the Premier League as the Foxes have been in the top three for most of the season and are playing their best football since they won the title in the 2015-2016 season.
Despite being third with 56 points and seven points ahead of fifth-placed West Ham and with nine matches still to be played in the season, boss Brendan Rodgers knows things can turn around in a snap if they don’t stay focused and want to secure a Champions League spot.
They have been scoring well in the last two matches beating Sheffield United with five unanswered goals and Manchester United in the FA Cup by 3-1. Nigerian Kelechi Iheanacho scored five goals in those two matches covering the absence of injured James Maddison and the goal drought of Jamie Vardy with style.
Guardiola sets his team for the final stretch of the season
Pep Guardiola has every reason to be proud of his team so far this season, but the Citizens haven’t won any trophies yet from the quartet that they are dreaming of winning. Hence, the Spaniard knows there can’t be any flips and dips in their form especially against teams like Leicester.
Coming into this match Manchester City beat Everton in the FA Cup at Goodison Park and now they have won all of their last 15 away matches in all competitions and their last nine in the Premier League. With the loss against rivals Manchester United being their only one in 26 matches in the Premier League, City go to Kings Power Stadium having won their last four matches with over two-goal margins.
Guardiola will have a concern with his international players though who played three matches in 8 days. Manchester City had more than ten players playing with their respective national teams during the international break and Guardiola will hope all of them are healthy as the Citizens enter for the final stretch and most crucial part of the season.
Key Stats
- Leicester have won four of their last six home games
- Leicester have scored in all of their last six home matches
- Manchester City have conceded two goals in their last six away games
- Manchester City have scored in all of their last six away games
Leicester City vs Manchester City Prediction
It will be interesting to see whether Manchester City can maintain their form after an exhausting international break. Most teams have suffered and we have to see whether the Citizens will be affected.
We will not back an outright winner for this matchup. We will check the goals scored instead and if we look at their statistics we can see that both of these teams had a lot of goals in recent matches in all competitions and have been scoring regularly in those matches.
We believe there will be over 2.5 goals in this one.
