This match is almost an exact replica of the League Cup match which took place midweek with Leicester City hosting Liverpool although this time we are back to the bread and butter of the Premier League. The League Cup meeting finished in a 2-0 victory for Leicester.

This latest victory against Liverpool was Leicester’s first win in any competition since 22nd August with their last Premier League win coming even further back on 19th August. This poor run of form has put Leicester 15th in the table, however, there will be easier fixtures to come so no need to panic just yet.

The Foxes have had trouble at the back recently and that clean sheet on Tuesday night was their first since that aforementioned win on 19th August. However, they are still masters of the counter-attacking style – which helped them win the league in 2016 – and this is demonstrated by the fact they have scored in all but one of their competitive outings so far this term.

The King Power Stadium has been a fortress for Leicester over the last couple of years and they have certainly kept that up so far this season with just one competitive defeat on their own patch. Furthermore, the Foxes have found the back of the net in every competitive home match at the King Power since 5th February.

That defeat against Leicester on Tuesday night means Liverpool’s winless run now stretches to four matches in all competitions. This has knocked them out of the League Cup as well as putting them on the backfoot in both the Champions League and Premier League.

Manager Jurgen Klopp expressed his frustration at his Liverpool side again conceding very cheap goals against Leicester and vowed to sort his dodgy defence on the training ground. Many Liverpool fans are angry that this problem with the back line was not sorted months ago. Having said that, the former Borussia Dortmund manager defended his side’s attacking style of play, which has seen them score nine goals in five Premier League outings, saying he preferred to have a poor defence and a strong attack rather than the other way round.

The Reds have not been happy travellers in the last couple of weeks with two consecutive defeats away from Anfield and no goals in the process.

Despite the fact that Liverpool are the bookmakers’ favourites at 11/12, I would side with Leicester here. The Foxes have a terrific home record and their counter-attacking style should allow them to get at a vulnerable Liverpool defence. Furthermore, it is well worth noting that the home side has come out on top in each of the last six meetings between the two. Leicester City to Win is priced at 33/10.
