Limp Leeds look short
Leeds won plenty of admirers for their swashbuckling football last season, though Marcelo Bielsa’s hard-running troops have found points much harder to come by this term.
The Yorkshiremen have won just twice in ten Premier League fixtures since the summer and their only victories during the campaign’s early exchanges came against relegation candidates Watford and Norwich.
Expected goals and points models also show that Leeds’ haul so far matches up well with their performances and a clash with a Leicester team that thumped them 4-1 at Elland Road in 2020/21 has the makings of another tough test.
Leicester need a lift
Leicester have been huffing and puffing this season and the wild inconsistency of their results in the Premier League has been a major source of frustration for their supporters and for manager Brendan Rodgers.
The Foxes have won four, drawn two and lost four of their first ten Premier League assignments of 2021/22, though they had gone four games unbeaten in the division before a somewhat unlucky 2-0 reverse to a resurgent Arsenal last weekend.
Leicester had numerous opportunities to score against the Gunners, though they were denied time and time again by the sensational Aaron Ramsdale in the visitor’s goal.
Leeds vs Leicester City Predictions
Leeds have looked low on confidence this season and the same tactical tricks they employed last term don’t seem to be as effective this time around.
At Elland Road, they have won only once in five attempts in the league with their solitary victory coming in uninspired fashion with a 1-0 win over struggling Watford.
Scoring goals has been a particular problem and their lack of punch in the final third – compounded by Patrick Bamford’s absence – could allow a Leicester team that rattled the net twice in three of their last four away tests to prevail.
With the Foxes packing extra power in the final third, we recommend backing them to win on Sunday at 2.5, while a stake on Leicester to register over 1.5 team goals at 2.05 is also advised.
