Leeds welcome fellow Yorkshire club Rotherham to Elland Road on Monday as two teams who’ve enjoyed contrasting campaigns go head-to-head.

These two teams will enjoy a slight advantage over the rest of the division of Monday as both played their last fixture on Thursday evening as opposed to either Friday or Saturday. Leeds continued their strong form by securing a point, although they will disappointed not to have taken all three, away at Villa Park, while Rotherham’s woes continued as they were beaten at home by Burton Albion (1-2).

For a team who’re thriving right now, the visit of Rotherham isn’t likely to instill much fear and the hosts are strongly fancied to resume winning ways here. At odds of 7/5, ‘Leeds to Win & Over 2.5 Goals’ is the bet to be on.

Gary Monk’s side might have only managed a point against Villa on Thursday night, but, considering they hit the bar twice, they were unlucky not to win and the manager will undoubtedly have been happy with the way his team played. The Whites performed with real credit, defending well throughout and offering plenty going forward.

The hosts have enjoyed their time at Elland Road this season – something they haven’t always been able to say in recent years – and, in winning seven of their 12 at home, including four of their last five, they’re becoming a side who’re very tough to face on their own patch. Considering Rotherham have been in quite dismal form this season, especially on the road – zero wins and just one draw in their 12 away matches – it’s almost impossible to see anything other than a convincing Leeds victory.

Having netted just 15 in front of their own fans, Leeds haven’t exactly been the biggest scorers at home, but this match should provide them with a real opportunity to cut loose. The visitors have conceded no less than 33 goals on their travels this campaign and have been involved in just one game that has seen less than three goals go in.

There can be no getting away from the fact that these two teams are at opposite ends of the spectrum right now – Leeds are in great form and have looked really confident, whereas Rotherham are finding it increasingly difficult to keep their heads above water and, in all honesty, it surely won’t be long before they’re resigned to the fact that League One is where they’ll be plying their trade next season.

Gary Monk has his team performing at a high level right now and this can continue as they face a dejected Rotherham side on Monday. Backing Leeds to come out on top of a high-scoring match is the way to go.
