Krylia Sovetov – Rubin Kazan – Thomas Giles prediction
This match is between two sides with nothing to play for so in most leagues that would mean a goal fest. However, the Russian Premier League is generally not a high scoring league so both of these sides will want to ensure they finish the season free of injuries.
Last time out was a bad day at the office for both sides as Krylia lost 3-0 to high flying Krasnodar whilst Rubin Kazan suffered defeat at the hands of struggling Anzhi Makhachkala. Both of these sides really are on the beach with their flip-flops on.
Krylia have a decent home record but are amongst the league’s lowest goalscorers with a mere 18 goals in the entire campaign so far. It is really down to their strong defence, which has only conceded 30 goals, that they are not near the bottom.
Rubin Kazan are certainly seen as a more entertaining side with some talented players and a few more goals but this season has been a huge disappointment. Their Europa League campaign ended in failure which seems to have impacted on their domestic form and they have tailed off drastically in the last few weeks.
As mentioned earlier, no player will want to be going into the summer holidays with a long-term injury so I doubt anybody will be putting much effort in. Expect a boring game with under 1.5 goals.
