Köln v Hoffenheim Betting Tips: Goals, goals, goals at RheinEnergieStadion
Sports betting writer Bradley Gibbs takes a look at Friday’s Bundesliga fixture between Köln and Hoffenheim at the RheinEnergieStadion.
Friday night’s Bundesliga action sees two teams who’re chasing European football lock horns. With the way things have been going for this pair of late, a good amount of goals is anticipated.
As they go in pursuit of a place in one of Europe’s elite club competitions next season, having a real go in an attacking sense has become a bit of a priority for both in recent weeks. While this has certainly yielded plenty of goals scored, it has also resulted in more than a few conceded. It’s fair to say that goals have been the order of the day when either Köln or Hoffenheim have taken to the pitch in recent weeks and much of the same is fancied here. The two bets that catch the eye are ‘Over 3.5 Goals’ and ‘Over 1.5 First Half Goals’.
From a plain statistical point of view, this fixture might not appeal as a stand out candidate for either of the above bets, but, with the way in which these two have been playing in recent weeks, it’s hard to see anything other than a high-scoring encounter.
Since the start of March, Peter Stöger’s men haven’t been shy in coming forward and have scored 11 goals in their last seven fixtures, scoring at least once in all but one of those and in each of their last six. However, from a defensive point of view, they’ve been struggling. In the same time-frame, Köln have conceded a worrying 14 and have kept just one clean sheet. Interestingly, at least two first half goals were scored in five of those seven matches, including in four of their last five.
Hoffenheim have also been among the goals recently and come into this match off the back of an exciting 5-3 win over Gladbach. Prior to last Saturday’s eight-goal thriller, Julian Nagelsmann’s side had been both scoring and conceding on a regular basis, especially on the road. The visitors have scored at least once in each of their last seven on the road, but have conceded in six of those. There’s also been no shortage of first half goals if this lot have been involved in recent weeks with ‘Over 1.5 First Half Goals’ landing in four of their last six Bundesliga fixtures.
With neither of this pair in great defensive shape, both will know that they’ll need their shooting boots on if they’re to secure all three points and thus plenty of attacking is expected, after all, that’s the way they play anyway. With players such as the pacey Leonardo Bittencourt and the 23-goal Anthony Modeste for the hosts, as well as Sandro Wagner and Andrej Kramarić for the visitors, there will be no shortage of forward talent on show and it is the attacking players who’re taken to steal the limelight in this one.
As has often been the case with these two, a fast start is expected and getting behind an all-round high-scoring match is very much the way for punters go on Friday night.
