Juventus vs FC Porto: Prediction and Betting Tips
Juventus facing a difficult test
Juventus have been eager to win the UEFA Champions League in recent years but have failed to do so since 1996. They bought Cristiano Ronaldo for that reason but still weren’t successful in last season’s campaign as they were eliminated by Lyon in the round of 16.
With Andrea Pirlo as their new manager for this season, Juve have had some very good performances in the UCL especially beating Barcelona in the Camp Nou 3-0 and claim the top spot in their group.
They had some difficulties in the first leg against Porto though but a late goal by Enrico Chiesa made the task for the second leg a bit easier. Juve had lost their home match against Barcelona in the group stage but they have improved a lot since then as the Bianconer have won their last seven matches at home in the Serie A.
FC Porto playing for a draw
In the 1st leg, Porto were the better side for some periods in the match and were leading 2-0 until the 82nd minute when Juventus scored that all-important away goal. Porto were very aggressive in their defensive pressure on Juve but the Italians still managed to have 60% possession of the ball.
Coming into this match, they had finished second in their group behind Manchester City winning four matches drawing one and losing one. They are also on a 15 match unbeaten run in the Portuguese Liga Nos.
Porto have demonstrated that they can cause a lot of problems for Juve, especially with their high pressure. If they can keep a clean sheet in Turin as they have done in their last two matches in the Liga Nos, they will achieve the upset of the round.
- Juventus are unbeaten for 11 home games in all competitions
- Juventus have scored in ten of their last 11 home games in all competitions
- FC Porto are undefeated in seven away matches in all competitions
- FC Porto have scored in 21 of 22 away matches this season
Juventus vs FC Porto Prediction
Juventus have to improve from their first leg match. The Bianconeri were exposed at the back and if it wasn’t for Chiesa’s late goal it would have been a tough mountain to climb.
Having said that Juventus had seven clean sheets in their last eight matches at home in all competitions. Porto on the other hand have won their last four away matches scoring seven goals.
During the season, Juventus’s 52% of matches have seen over 2.5 goals and 56% of their matches saw BTTS. Porto’s 59% of matches have seen over 2.5 goals and 55% of their matches saw BTTS.
Juventus are the clear favorites to win this match with the bookies and also to qualify. We believe Porto will give a hard time for the Italians but we predict Juventus to qualify.
