Friday night’s Scottish Premiership match sees a relegation-struggler take on a former title hopeful as Inverness Caledonian Thistle host Rangers at Caledonian Stadium.

Inverness currently sit bottom of the Scottish Premiership and, although they are only two points from the relegation play-off place, they are five points off guaranteed safety. However, that looks like it will not be changing any time soon with Caley Thistle currently on a terrible run with no wins in the league in their last 14 matches.

As you would expect from a team bottom of the league, Richie Foran’s men have been pretty terrible in both boxes with just 29 goals scored in 25 matches (although not worst) and an alarming 46 conceded. Unsurprisingly, they have the worst clean sheet record in the league with clean sheets recorded in just 8% of their league matches this season.

Although they have only recorded an average of just one point per home match, Inverness do not have the worst home record in the league. However, they have not recorded a victory at the Caledonian Stadium since late September.

Before the season started, Rangers had said they hoped to challenge city rivals Celtic to the title but that now seems a distant memory with the club now sitting 3rd in the table behind both Celtic and Aberdeen.

Rangers have been thrown into chaos since Mark Warburton left and have so far failed to win a league match under caretaker manager Graeme Murty, losing in very disappointing fashion to midtable Dundee last weekend.

Goals have been the problem for the Gers this season with their record of 33 scored the joint-worst in the top five whilst they have also failed to score more than once in their last three league matches. Going up against the league’s bottom teams should provide a good opportunity to get the confidence back in front of goal.

The Glasgow giants have failed to win an away match so far under Murty’s leadership but this is not just down to him as Rangers have not been great away from Ibrox all season with just 18 points taken from 13 league matches.

Although Rangers are having a bit of a bad time at the moment, Inverness are having an even worse one and I expect the away side to capitalise on that by scoring a couple of goals against a very dodgy Inverness back-line. ‘Rangers to Win and Over 1.5 Goals’, at 13/10, is a good bet ahead of this one.
