Thursday’s Championship match is between two sides who’re both in good form and chasing promotion as play-off hopefuls Huddersfield Town host automatic contenders Brighton & Hove Albion.

After a blip which put their promotion bid into doubt during November, Huddersfield have turned things around to lose just one of their last 11 in all competitions, winning eight of those. The Terriers are currently 5th in the table and five points clear of the dreaded seventh place and have qualified for the fifth round of the FA Cup after thrashing League One Rochdale 4-0.

David Wagner’s side have become masters of winning matches to nil in recent times with their last four victories in all competitions coming with a clean sheet. This is particularly impressive when you consider that they had kept just one clean sheet in their 10 games prior to that. The Terriers have also found their shooting boots in recent weeks, scoring ten goals in their last four matches.

The John Smith’s Stadium has been a fortress for Huddersfield this season having taken 29 points from 13 games, losing just twice. Home form has certainly been impressive in recent times with no defeats in their last five, winning four of them, scoring 11 and conceding just three.

Brighton suffered one of the biggest shocks of the FA Cup weekend as they lost away 3-1 away at non-league Lincoln City, despite taking the lead during the first period. However, they will now argue that this allows them to fully concentrate on gaining promotion to the Premier League which seems like a task they’re likely to fulfill given they are eight points clear of 3rd.

Although their result at Lincoln says otherwise, the Seagulls have been excellent at the back this season and currently boast the best defensive record in the division with just 18 goals conceded in 27 games. Luckily for them, they are also excellent going forward and have a variety of attacking options which means matches where they fail to score are few and far between.

With both of these teams in really good form right now, this is a particularly hard fixture to call, although there are still a couple of selection that make plenty of appeal.

Firstly, both of these teams really are impressive going forward, so much so that it’s certainly not hard to see each of them finding the net. At odds of 23/20, ‘Both Teams to Score’ stands out. Huddersfield have scored in their last eight home matches and conceded in five of them whilst Brighton have conceded in their last five games on the road but also scored in four of those.

Following the goal-theme, another selection worth going for here is ‘2-3 Total Goals’ at 11/10. Despite both offering plenty going forward, even with a goal likely for both, these are two teams who can certainly defend, so a particularly high-scoring encounter certainly doesn’t appear likely.
