Huesler, meanwhile, reached the final at an ATP tournament for the first time in his career. However, this success, however, was no fluke.
At the end of August, Marc-Andrea was one step away from a final in Winston-Salem.
In Sofia, Huesler was astonished by his ability to get out of the most difficult situations. In the quarter-finals, he dropped back-to-back match ball against Kamil Majchrzak (6-7, 7-6, 6-3).
In the semi-finals, Marc-Andrea lost to Lorenzo Musetti (1-5) in the tie-break of the first set. In the second set, he managed to win back a breakpoint at a score of 4-4.
Huesler also defeated Pablo Carreno-Busta (6-3, 3-6, 6-2) in the second round.
Huesler has four wins under his belt in the previous five meetings with the top 50.
