Granada vs Manchester United: Prediction and Betting Tips

19:00, Apr 08 2021
Granada vs Manchester United prediction for Thursday’s Europa League quarter-league clash at Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes in Granada. After eliminating Napoli in round 32, Granada find themselves in the quarter-finals against a tough Manchester United side. Read along for our free prediction and betting tips.

A great debut season for Granada

Granada are the surprise qualifiers to the Uefa Europa League quarter-finals in their debut season. The Spanish side had qualified to the knockout stage after they finished second in Group E, winning three games, drawing two, and losing one.

They had a very good result by eliminating Napoli in round 32 after beating them at home 2-0 and losing 2-1 in Napoli. The same scorelines appeared in the round of 16 matches against Norwegian side Molde and Granada find themselves in the quarter-final in their first-ever season in the competition.

Losing just one game at home 0-1 to PSV in the group stages means that coach Diego Martinez’s team can be a tough team to beat at their own backyard in the UEL having conceded just two goals in five matches played at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes this campaign.

A UEL Semi-Final in sight for the Red Devils

The Red Devils have a chance to turn their disappointment of group stage exit from the Champions League into glory in the Europa League as they travel to humble Granada for the quarter-final first-leg tie and will hope to return as winners as they did in their last visit to Spain when they thrashed Real Sociedad 4-0.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have seen his team lose just one game in the last 16 outings in all competitions, but they have exited the Champions League and have conceded the Premier League to city rivals Manchester City thus have only the UEL  as a chance for silverware this season.

In the last round, United eliminated Italian giants AC Milan after beating them in the San Siro. That win was their second away win in the UEL and going to Granada, Solskjaer will fancy his team’s chances of advancing to the semi-finals.

Key Stats

  • Granada have won Four of their last five home matches
  • Granada have scored in four of their last five home matches
  • Manchester United have won their last two away matches in the Europa League
  • Manchester United have scored five goals in their two away matches in the Europa League

Granada vs Manchester United Prediction

Will the fairytale continue for Granada as they host three-time Champions League winner Manchester United. United are eager to make up for all their losses this season and reach the semi-final of the UEL for now. They have the ability to finish this tie in the 1st leg as they did against Real Sociedad.

Granada had a very bad preparation for this match by losing 3-0 at home to Villareal at the weekend in the La Liga. Diego Martinez hopes to find the form his team was in the earlier knockout rounds but it won’t be as easy against a strong Manchester United side.
