These two sides have differing objectives with Gillingham looking to beat the drop to League Two whilst Fleetwood Town are still chasing automatic promotion to the Championship.

Gillingham looked like they were recovering a couple of games ago when they picked up four points from a possible six. However, they’v since lost to Charlton which puts them back in the relegation dogfight, although they’re four points clear.

Adrian Pennock’s side have been absolutely abysmal at the back and have the division’s worst defensive record with 76 conceded in 44 games. Additionally, they have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last 22 matches in all competitions. Fortunately for them though, their ability to find the back of the net means they still have a good chance of staying up this season. Their Goals For record of 57 is the second-best in the bottom eight.

The Gills are actually on a half-decent run at home with no losses in their last two. Furthermore, they have lost just twice in their last ten. However, their defensive frailties are still a huge problem with no clean sheets in 11 at Priestfield.

Fleetwood will be looking to take advantage of Bolton’s slip-up which has meant that there is now only a two point gap between second and third. The momentum is certainly with Fleetwood who have won three of their last four, including their latest two.

In contrast to Gillingham, the Trawlermen have been fantastic defensively with just 41 goals conceded in 44 games – the second-best in League One. Having said that, they have slipped up a bit recently with just one clean sheet in their last five matches which could prove troublesome against a Gillingham side who know how to score goals. Fleetwood may not have one of the best records in the final third and indeed it is the worst in the top three, however, their record of 61 in 44 is still admirable.

Uwe Rosler’s men have been great on the road with just one defeat away from Highbury since 12th November 2016. They’ve also conceded just 21 goals on the road this campaign.

Although Gillingham have had a bit of momentum recently, they crashed back down to earth last time out and Fleetwood will want to make sure they take advantage of Bolton’s recent slip-up in order to sneak into the automatic spots. The evidence all points towards the away side who are priced at a surprisingly good 5.4.
