German Masters: Day 1. Vladimir Sinitsin’s prediction

We got eight matches on the first day and some of them are quite interesting. The game between Allister Carter and Judd Trump is likely to be the major one, but there are no nice lines on it. I’d better keep an eye on the match between Alfie Burden and Anda Zhang. Why is the Chinese set to be a favourite by the bookies? Is it only because of his rating? Anda Zhang defeated Dechawat Poomjaeng and Robert Milkins which is not bad. But Alfie Burden defeated Robin Hull and Ricky Walden. And Burden got four big wins over Anda Zhang during the last five years (4:0, 5:2, 5:1, 6:3). So we can go for Burden’s win.

We were successful with the bets with enhanced odds on January Masters tournament. We have a good one today: Mark Williams, Stephen Maguire and Graeme Dott all to win at 3.75. Tempting, isn’t it? We are to mind that Williams is upset after the loss on Senior’s world championship but he should play firmly in Berlin. Maguire should remain calm and with that, he can defeat anybody. I doubt only Dott’s win here. But we can replace him with Shaun Murphy and get a simple accumulator bet. Should we take a risk?

To avoid any risk, you can place a simple bet at 1.83 on the match between Mark Selby and Steven Hallworth. I think they’ll play over seven frames. It’s interesting that the odds on Hallworth to win two or more frames are just 1.67 but this is the same event obviously. I expect Mark Selby to win. Can Steven Hallworth miss being drubbed? He once told that he’s training eight hours a day to remain in the tour. His chances to triumph are too low but he surely can win about two frames.
