France vs Scotland. Editors’ prediction
France are the main contenders for the Euro’s this summer, and if you’re not Eric Cantona, you can see the attacking power of Didier Deschamps’ team. Even without Karim Benzema (a recent Champions League winner with Real Madrid) France look as though they are capable of defeating just about any opponent. What is more interesting for punters though is that France are absolutely brilliant with goals. In each of their last three games Les Blues have seen no fewer than 16 goals go in at both ends. Each of those three games all had over 4.5 goals too, so it looks as though overs is a market to watch out for when Pogba and his friends play.
It might be too risky to go for over 4.5 goals again even with such a tempting odds (5/1). If you look to the stats of the last France games, you can see that they’ve scored at least two goals in the 1st half. Griezmann and Giroud made it 2:0 on March 25 against Netherlands, Kante and Gignac did the same against Russia on March 29, and Matuidi and Giroud settled a result of 2:1 in the 1st half against Cameroon on May 30. Different line-ups, but two goals in each of the 1st halves.
This will be the last friendly before EURO 2016, so Deschamps will definitely field his main forces. Scotland have found goals hard to come by in recent friendly games (1:0, 1:0, 0:1), but they seemed to score a lot in qualifying (W4, D3, L3, GD 22-12). I think we can expect goals here, especially goals in the 1st half. Over 1.5 goals before the break, at 13/8, looks the way to go.
