These two League One sides are both aiming for automatic promotion this season and play-offs at the very least. Fleetwood currently occupy that precious second spot, however, Bolton have two games in hand and are only four points behind.

Fleetwood are one of the most in form sides in the country having gone on a fantastic run of no defeats in their last 18 in the league, notching four wins on the bounce.

Uwe Rosler’s men have been fantastic at the back and have the second-best defensive record in the division with just 32 conceded in 35 matches. Additionally, they have the best clean sheet record in League One with 43% and have kept clean sheets in their last three whilst they have also conceded just once in their last five games. Perhaps they could do with a bit of improvement in the final third but, when your defence is that good, they can win games without needing to score loads.

Home form has been outstanding for the Trawlermen and they have the joint-best home record in the league, mainly because they are undefeated at Highbury Stadium in their last 13 league matches.

Bolton were having a good go at the top two a while back but they have tailed off quite a bit in the last few matches and are without a win in their last four league games.

The only team with a better defensive record than Saturday’s opponents Fleetwood Town is Bolton Wanderers themselves who have conceded an average of just 0.85 goals per game. However, they have not kept a clean sheet in their last four which has really cost them as their potency in the final third has been pretty poor – they have the worst goalscoring record in the top seven teams.

Phil Parkinson’s side have had a pretty bad time on their travels in the last couple of months with no win in any competition since 26th November 2016. Going to a team with such a good home record is no doubt a daunting prospect for Bolton.

With Fleetwood being on such good form, you have to back them here, especially with Bolton being so poor away from the Macron Stadium. The price on a home win is surprisingly good at 11/8 and is worth taking advantage of.
