Finland vs Russia: Predictions and Betting Tips
The Finns pulled off a surprise opening day win over Denmark, in a match marked by an anguished Christian Eriksen situation.
A win or even a draw in this match could allow the Finns to qualify as second in the group or even third in the group if they are among the best third-placed teams in all the groups.
The only time the Finns beat the Russians was in 2012, 1-2. Since then, there have been four wins in a row for the Russians.
The Russians got off to the worst possible start with a 3-0 defeat against the Belgians. A defeat in that match was foreseeable, but the truth is that the Belgians, without being at their best, managed to score three goals very easily.
Another of the Russians’ weaknesses was that they were weak in their attack. Dzyuba was absolutely alone at all times, and like that, it is difficult to score goals.
- Finland won its match against Denmark with just one shot on target
- Three consecutive matches with under 2.5 total goals for Finland
- Russia have conceded at least one goal in four of their last five games
- Two losses, two wins and one draw for Russia in their last five games
Finland vs Russia
Even though Finland is the home team, the match is played in Russia, so the home ground factor with the majority of support for Russia is already a big advantage for them. In terms of football, Finland has already surprised by beating Denmark, but the truth is that we see the Russians as favourites in this match and because of the need they have to win in this match we see them as even stronger favourites.
Both teams had very few shots on goal in their first match, we think that this match will be no different and that the game will be decided by a very close result.
