This fixture is certainly one of the, shall we say, duller matches in the Russian Premier League this weekend, however, it can still be a good one for punters.

Despite starting the season quite, taking 10 points from of a possible 15, Terek have slipped off the pace a bit recently and only picked up one point in their last three matches and even that was an unimpressive draw away at struggling Arsenal Tula. They currently sit ninth in the table.

Generally you know what you’re going to get with the Chechen side – no frills solid football which tends to get results against the smaller sides, especially at their home stadium of the Akhmat Arena.

Having said that, they have had an unusual start to the campaign for them having conceded 13 goals already – more than any other side in the Russian Premier League. Although it must be said that this is largely down to 3-0 and 4-0 losses against CSKA Moscow and Krasnodar respectively who are of course far superior to Terek.

This match against newly-promoted FC Orenbrug presents a great chance for Rashid Rakhimov’s side to get their season up and running once more.

Despite being second bottom, you could argue that FC Orenburg have not actually made a terrible start to the season. They may not have secured maximum points from any match so far this campaign but have managed to earn draws against established Russian Premier League sides against Amkar Perm and Rubin Kazan. You get the feeling that if Robert Yevdokimov’s team could add a few goals to their game, just like they did in their promotion season last year, they could be a real threat to a few sides in the division given their defensive solidity.

Unfortunately for Orenburg it seems that if they concede then there is a real fight to even earn a draw, never mind a victory. This was proved last weekend when they still had plenty of time left to salvage something from their match against Ural after conceding in the 60th minute but just did not have the firepower.

Home form is always incredibly important for newly-promoted sides in any league, but especially in a conservative league like the Russian Premier League. So, with Orenburg still yet to win despite having six out of eight games at home so far this season, things don’t look great for the rest of the rest of the campaign when they will have to travel more.

As mentioned earlier, this match is easy to predict and it’s very hard to see past a Terek win. A win without conceding is also very probable here and I am astounded that the odds are as good as 8/5 on this market, especially given the circumstances of the match. This bet looks a real gimme with Orenburg’s poor attacking line up.

Whoever dabbles in this selection will surely be going home with nearly twice as much money in their pockets on Saturday night.
