Espanyol – Sevilla. Alexander Vishnevskiy’s prediction
This is the penultimate away game for Sevilla this season and they’ve got exactly zero victories, and I don’t expect this number to increase after the visit to Espanyol. The two sides are likely to have differing levels of motivation. Espanyol are within two points of the relegation zone and are in dire need of points, especially given the fact that in the next game they’ll face Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Sevilla have already secured their Europa League place. Which of course is where their current focus lies, as they are set to play the second leg of their semi-final against Shakhtar on Thursday night. It is likely that all today’s visitors will be thinking of is making it to a third successive Europa League final.
Sevilla’s roster for the match does not include Escudero, Rami, Carrizo, Grzegorz Krychowiak, Vitolo and Gameiro. And, of course, the heavily-injured Krohn-Delhi. Without proper motivation and half of the starting eleven, Sevilla simply won’t be the same today.
So, odds at 2.1 are worth taking in these circumstances, even on an outsider against the Europa League holders.
