After their friendly in Germany, England get down to real business as they host Lithuania in this World Cup qualifier at Wembley.

England top Group F with a two-point cushion over Slovenia after a run of three wins and just one draw. Despite losing in the friendly against Germany on Wednesday night, there were positive signs from Gareth Southgate’s men which possibly show that there is a bit of light at the end of the long, dark tunnel that is English football.

The Three Lions have been brilliant at the back in their World Cup qualification campaign so far and are yet to concede a goal and, given the weakness of the teams in the group, it would be no surprise if they did not concede a goal for the entire campaign. They have not been fantastic going forward though and have only found the back of the net six times which is lower than Slovakia down in 3rd and joint with Scotland in 5th.

England’s rather youthful looking squad did rather well in Germany the other night and we may see a couple of them given a chance against Lithuania on Sunday.

The English have always had a very good record at Wembley and they have not lost a qualifier at the stadium since the defeat to Croatia in November 2007 – Steve McLaren’s last game in charge of the national team. Furthermore, England have conceded just one goal in competitive matches at home since October 2013.

Lithuania lost 3-0 against Czech Republic in their midweek friendly but, although they will probably not be going to Russia next year, they have had a few good results in Group F, losing just once in their four matches.

Edgaras Jankauskas’s side may not have scored in their last qualification loss against Slovakia but, apart from that, they have scored in each of their other three qualification games, meaning they have only found the back of the net just one time less than England. With their rather more gung-ho approach though, Lithuania are vulnerable at the back with just one clean sheet in their four matches and a total of seven against.

Jankauskas has gone with an experienced squad for this match at Wembley with no uncapped players featuring in the 23.

Unfortunately for Lithuania going into this match though, their away form has been dreadful and they have not won a game on their travels, including friendlies, since a victory against San Marino back in 2014.

England will no doubt win here so it is about finding value in the market. The Enhanced Odds Offer of ‘England to Win & Adam Lallana to Score Anytime’ at 7/4 really stands out. Lallana has become a key figure for England in the last few years and he should have plenty of chances to find the back of the net against a poor defence on Sunday.
