This is one fairly unlucky team vs on reasonably lucky one. England shoulder almost all of the struggles of this Euro: first, they conceded a 90 minute goal against Russia which leveled the score (1:1). Then they were punished by Gareth Bale who scored from the free kick – although after that England found the strength to win that game (2:1). And in the end it was a poor draw vs Slovakia (0:0) which left England with 2nd position in Group B. Many pundits say that it’s Roy Hodgson’s tactics that are bringing England down. His extremely late and defensive subs vs Russia didn’t help to win the game when England were 1:0 up and ready to counter. He refused to change the squad for the second game and it was only that fact that his side were losing 1:0 that made him to field Vardy and Sturridge after the break.

Iceland, on the other hand, are now dancing on the waves of success. They are playing in the Euros for the first time and they almost topped Group F (Finished 2nd to Hungary only on goal difference). They hog-tied Ronaldo (1:1 vs Portugal), almost defeated Hungary (1:1 with their own goal on the 88 minute) and then killed Austria with a brilliant 94 minute counter!

They’ve certainly done well, but have perhaps rode their luck at times. On another day Portugal could’ve easily scored more. And Hungary, who won the group in the end, could’ve also taken more from that game. Anyway, no doubt that Iceland deserved their place in the Round 16. Their fitness and sheer determination allows them to keep any opponent on their toes in every game.

England are the favourites here (8/15), and it’s understandable. Surely this is a winnable game for them? But can they win without conceding a goal? Iceland now have nothing to lose, they’ve made the history and now can play with absolutely no pressure. All of the pressure will be on Roy Hodgson. The price on both teams scoring is too tempting to miss – 7/4. Iceland scored in each of their Euro games and they can do it again.
