This is technically a match in the fight for survival, however, Dundee are five points clear of the relegation play-off spot whilst Inverness looked doomed as they prop up the table with a four-point gap even up to that play-off spot.

After seven consecutive losses in all competitions, Dundee have recovered very well to go unbeaten in their last three, winning two of them which, as I mentioned previously, probably sees them safe for another season.

The Dark Blues have struggled in both boxes this campaign but, as you can imagine from a team who lost seven on the bounce, it has been at the back where they have suffered most in recent times and they have recorded just one clean sheet in the league since the turn of the year. However, it must be mentioned that they have tightened up quite a bit in the last couple of matches with just one goal conceded in their last two.

Although Neil McCann’s side have taken a fair number of points in the last trio of matches, these have not come on home soil and Dundee’s recent home points tally stands at just one taken from a possible 15 in their last five home matches. Additionally, they are still having big problems at the back at Dens Park with no clean sheet in 2017 whilst they have also conceded in 83% of total home games this campaign. However, Inverness coming to town presents a great opportunity to pick up maximum points for the first time since February.

You can now put a fair amount of money on Inverness to be relegated this season with pretty much no risk as they are showing no signs of improvement with just one win in their last ten matches, including six losses. They must take at least a point in Thursday’s match to give themselves a fighting chance but even then it looks bleak.

Defence has been a massive problem for Caley Thistle throughout the entire season and they currently have the worst Goals Against record in the division with 69 conceded in just 36 outings. Furthermore, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 14 matches and conceded in 94% of their games this season. They have been okay going forward but their woeful defence means results are almost impossible to come by.

Although the Highland side will take a bit of confidence from Dundee’s poor home record, their own away record is even more horrendous. Inverness have won just one away match all season and even that came all the way back in October. Additionally, they have lost 67% of away games this campaign, including the last four, whilst they have also conceded at least one goal in their last 13 away trips.

Some will say that the fact that Inverness need at least a point here will spur them on. However, they lack any sort of confidence at the moment and I cannot see them getting anything against an in-form Dundee side, even though they have been poor at home. The price of 8/5 on a Dundee win, against a team who’re desperately struggling, is worth snapping up.
