Match-day 21 in La Liga kicks off in A Coruña on Friday night as Deportivo welcome Real Betis to Estadio Riazor.

The first half of the season wasn’t particularly fruitful for either of these clubs, although hopes of challenging for European football was probably never an objective for either so the fact that they’re both sat above the drop-zone means that they haven’t actually fared too badly.

We’re talking about two teams, like so many in La Liga, who do almost all their best work on their own patch. The contrast between both Deportivo’s and Betis’ home and away records is quite remarkable; however, there’s definitely reason to think both can enjoy some success in this fixture, at least from an attacking point of view.

The bet that catches the eye here is ‘Both Teams to Score’ at odds of 19/17. Although this match might not stand out as an amazing contender for such a bet on ‘BTTS’ stats alone, the way this match is likely to pan out should allow for chances at both ends.

First and foremost, neither of these two sides have been the best when it comes to defending. Betis are yet to keep a clean sheet on the road, while Depor have shut their opposition out just twice in nine attempts at home so far this campaign.

When playing in front of a home crowd, Gaizka Garitano’s men, despite not exactly screaming defensive solidity, have looked decent going forward. In fact, at times, they’ve been very effective in the final third. The fact that Betis will more than likely look to sit in and contain should suit Depor down to the ground as they’re a side who relish possession and are capable of creating chances with it. On the other hand, playing on the counter is when Betis are arguably at their best and could quite easily profit from such tactics.

These two did meet at this venue not that long ago in the Copa del Rey when playing out a rather attacking encounter. After both created chances, the hosts came out on top (3-1) and a similar outcome looks likely here.

Punters shouldn’t be put off by the fact that Betis have scored in just two of their last five on the road, they will certainly get chances here thanks to the way their hosts operate. Depor focus much more on going forward and often risk being opened up on the break – the fact that both teams have scored in 67% of their home fixtures is testament to this.

All things considered, both goalkeepers could have plenty to do in this fixture and, at odds of 19/17, ‘Both Teams to Score’ is certainly a bet worth placing.
