Granada travel to take on Alavés in the final game of round six in La Liga – a fixture that looks to have goals on the menu.

Alavés have made a promising start to life in La Liga since winning promotion from the second division last season and have only lost once in the top flight so far. On the other hand, it’s been a pretty poor start to the new campaign for the club who narrowly evaded the drop last season. Having played five matches, Granada are yet to register a win and, with just two points to their name, find themselves down in 19th place.

So far, when playing in front of a home crowd, Alavés have been involved in two low-scoring matches (both 0-0), however, it is fancied that this trend will come to an end on Monday evening. Having felt their way into La Liga life quite nicely, the side from the basque country will surely see this as a winnable game – especially given Granada’s defensive record – and thus fans could be treated to a more open, attacking style of play this time around.

Unlike their opponents, Granada haven’t been able to avoid high-scoring matches of late – four of their last five have seen three or more goals hit the net, while both teams have scored in each of their last five.

The visitors may find themselves at the foot of the table, but, since they’ve scored at least once in each of their five matches this season, this isn’t down to their attacking efforts. In fact, Granada have created 49 goal-scoring chances this season (8th highest in the division) so it’s clear that they’re capable of threatening teams in that sense. However, It is in the defensive third where problems seem to continually arise. The visitors have conceded a total of 12 goals so far and, after five matches, they still await a first clean sheet of the new campaign.

‘Both Teams to Score’ is the first bet that catches the eye in this fixture. For the reasons mentioned above, Granada look a real stand out side when it comes to this market right now. The Andalusian side have looked useful going forward and should certainly pose a threat in this match, but their inability to keep things tight at the back is likely to go against them once more. As for the hosts, Alavés might not have exactly sprung into life in an attacking sense this season, but, against a team who’re struggling at the back, they’re certainly fancied to find the net in this fixture.

Secondly, ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ is another bet worth going for here. Again it is the manner in which the visitors have performed this season that makes this bet look a real standout. Granada have consistently created chances, regardless of their opposition, and, having scored six goals already, it would be no surprise at all if they were to find the net (perhaps more than once) against this newly promoted side. At the same time, though, it is also the poor defending showcased by the visitors that looks to give this bet a fighting chance. Alavés will also fancy themselves here and it would be a surprise if they didn’t go about playing this match in an attacking manner – after all, for any team who’ve tried, breaking down the Granada defence has been a seemingly easy task.

Additionally, at odds of 13/8, the combination bet of ‘Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score’ is a logical addition to the two bets outlined above.

All things considered, there are certainly reasons to believe that both sides have excellent goal-scoring prospects in this match and the fans at Mendizorrotza Stadium are expected to be treated to both an attacking and reasonably high-scoring encounter on Monday night.
