Punting focus switches back to the International game this week as the World Cup Qualifiers are once again upon us. One such game that catches the eye as an excellent betting opportunity is Denmark v Kazakhstan.

Having missed out on a place at Euro 2016 thanks to a play-off defeat against rivals Sweden, the Danes will be determined to make sure they’re at the next major tournament, although they’ve made a mixed start to life in qualification Group E and could already be up against it. Having said this, a home fixture against Kazakhstan provides an excellent opportunity for the hosts to get themselves firmly in the running.

At odds of 7/5, ‘Denmark to Score Over 2.5 Goals’ is the bet to be on. Kazakhstan aren’t likely to provide the toughest test and, if the Danes can be somewhere near their best in this match, a convincing victory should be on the cards.

When we look at this Denmark squad, with Premier League players such as Christian Eriksen and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, alongside La Liga pair Pione Sisto and Daniel Wass, they should have more than enough about them to acquit themselves well in this group and, realistically, should have too much for European minnows Kazakhstan. In fact, this is probably the best Denmark squad, in terms of naturally gifted players at least, in recent years and they really ought to be throwing down a major challenge for the top two spots.

Their first three matches in Group E have yielded a 1-0 win against Armenia win and two losses against Poland and Montenegro, although, it has to be said that they played well in both of those and were unlucky to go down by just a single goal on both occasions (3-2 & 0-1). Kazakhstan on the other hand, although they did manage to hang on two home draws against both Poland and Romania, were humbled 5-0 when visiting Montenegro last time out and they aren’t expected to do much better this time around.

In beating Armenia 1-0, the Danes convincingly secured three points in their opening home qualification match, although the scoreline doesn’t really do them justice. The hosts were utterly dominant from start to finish and, with 73% possession, 20 attempts, a penalty missed, as well as restricting the opposition to just one shot, they really ought to have won by a greater margin. It was a similar story against Montenegro last time out. Denmark created plenty of chances and dominated the game, but failed to capitalise and lost 0-1. However, they can make amends for this by scoring numerous goals in a similar situation against Kazakhstan on Friday night.

In recent times, Denmark have recorded a few high-scoring victories against lowly opposition. They scored both four and five in wins against Bulgaria and Liechenstein earlier in the year, while in 2015 they scored three in wins against both USA and Serbia. On top of this, Denmark won 3-0 when they previously played host to Kazakhstan.

As for the visitors, well, they had made a reasonable start to the campaign by securing draws against Romania and, more surprisingly, Poland, albeit somewhat fortuitously, but in their last match they were handed a 5-0 beating by Montenegro and they could struggle once more. The Kazakhs probably aren’t as poor as some of the other international sides out there, but they certainly aren’t good. If we look at their record it quickly becomes apparent that they are able to compete against the smaller nations, but when it comes to the more established sides they tend to lose convincingly. In the last three years, they’ve lost 5-0, 0-3, 3-1, 2-4, 3-1, 3-1, 3-0 and 3-1 against Montenegro, Iceland, Turkey, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Hungary and Ireland respectively. And it would be fair to say that this Danish team are on par with at least some of these. Each one of those teams scored no less than three goals against this opposition and Denmark are expected to keep this trend going.

With the likes of the aforementioned Eriksen and Hojberg, Denmark have technically gifted players who are capable of getting on the ball and creating chances even when a team comes and gets men behind the ball like Kazakhstan will invariably do. The hosts will dominate possession and, just as they did against both Armenia and Montenegro at home, certainly have the quality to create numerous chances, the only difference being that this time around they are fancied to take a number of them.
