Much like the match between Leverkusen and Tottenham, this fixture between CSKA Moscow and Monaco could play a big part in how this group shapes up come December.

The hosts, with just a single point to their name after two matches, know that they need to win soon in order to avoid getting cut adrift at the bottom of the group, while the visitors, who sit top on four points, will be looking for three points in order to lay down a marker and keep themselves in pole position.

From a betting point of view, given what we’ve seen from these two teams in this competition so far, it’s hard to look past the visitors. AS Monaco looked an efficient and well-drilled side when beating Tottenham at Wembley on match-day one and their point against Leverkusen isn’t exactly the worst result in the world, while CSKA, although they too managed to take a point off of Leverkusen, looked a side lacking in ideas against Spurs on match-day two and were lucky to lose by just the one goal.

Their are two bets, both of which favour the visiting team, that are worth going for here. Firstly, at odds of 7/4, ‘Monaco to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ is well worth being on and, secondly, ‘Monaco to Win & Over 1.5 Goals’, at 11/4, completes the betting armory ahead of this fixture.

Monaco have looked a really useful outfit this season, especially in an attacking sense. In Ligue 1 they are currently the highest scoring team with 23 goals to their name, while they’ve scored at least two goals on eight occasions (all competitions) this season, including in both of their Champions League play-off matches against Villarreal and against Tottenham on match-day one.

CSKA, on the other hand, aren’t exactly an adventurous side and, while they may be a useful defensive outfit in the Russian league, against other European teams they tend to struggle. They conceded two against Leverkusen on match-day one and it would be hard for anyone to argue that Tottenham should’ve scored plenty more than the one goal that they actually did on match-day two.

When we consider the number of attacking talents in Monaco’s side – Moutinho, Silva and Lemar have all been in good form this season – it’s hard to see the visitors failing to cause a questionable CSKA defence numerous problems and, all things considered, Monaco are fancied to keep their place at the top of the group by picking up three points in good style.
