The inaugural CS_Summit gets underway shortly, with the first of four quarter-finals getting taking place at 17:30 GMT on 20th April. We previewed the tournament as a whole but with the first four matches confirmed, here’s a closer look at what to expect from the openers.

SK Gaming vs EnVyUs

Simply put, SK Gaming would have to be comfortably below par not to stroll through this series. EnVyUs came out of the CS:GO French shuffle worse than their counterparts G2 Esports. They have had mixed results, beating an out of form Virtus.Pro before losing to both mousesports and Kinguin in subsequent disappointment. They did also take a map from Fnatic as of late.

SK haven’t been on scintillating form and have dropped a few maps here and there (but not a series) so EnVyUs have a chance on their map pick against the Brazilian juggernauts.

SK Gaming to win at 3/10 on is certainly one for the accumulator backers. The more daring may back SK to drop a map but win the match (i.e. 2-1), at a tempting 2/1 on Bet365.

Gambit Gaming vs GODSENT

Gambit have been together significantly longer as a team than GODSENT and whilst they’ve endured a fairly poor run of form lately, they may just have too much class for the Swedish outfit.

GODSENT won’t be helped by the fact that one of their players missed his flight, thus missing a day of practice and having a day less to adjust to potential jetlag. Smaller factors can cause a huge amount of difference in esports. If Gambit perform to the best of their ability, they should deal with the Swedes fairly easily.

Gambit Gaming to win at 11/25 is another shorty to add to the acca.

OpTic Gaming vs Cloud9

Cloud9 will be playing this tournament with a stand in with Braxton “swag” Pierce set to replace Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham who continues his road to recovery after undergoing surgery. With both rosters at full strength, C9 would be favourites to take this.

However, OpTic recently took a map from SK Gaming so odds of 57/100 for OpTic to win a map look generous against a weakened C9. OG to win the match at 7/4 doesn’t look bad value either.

Ninjas in Pyjamas vs Team Liquid

Whilst Ninjas in Pyjamas’ form certainly is still nothing to write home about, they head to Los Angeles hoping to improve on yet another poor performance at Starladder last time out. If their players perform then they do have the potential to go far, but it’s been a considerable period of time since we’ve seen the Ninjas at their peak.

Liquid tend to be all too reliant on the performances of Jonathan ‘EliGE’ Jablonowski who is often their star performer. He’s admitted to being fragile mentally and it remains to be seen if he can bring the consistency needed to propel himself to the next level.

This is a tough one to call, but ‘Team Liquid to Win at Least One Map’ (1/2 on Bet365) is what we’re edging towards for the final match-up.

Suggested treble:

‘SK Gaming to Win’, ‘Gambit Gaming to Win’ and ‘OpTic Gaming to Win at Least One Map’.
