The two most in-form teams in the Premier League come head-to-head on Wednesday night as Crystal Palace, who have taken 19 points from their last eight games, host Tottenham Hotspur who have taken 21 from their last eight.

Crystal Palace managed to pull themselves seven points clear of the bottom three with a game in hand following Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Liverpool. Hopefully you caught my tip on that one. Safety is not guaranteed yet but it is hard to see Palace going down now.

The Eagles’ main strength in recent times has been their potency in the final third, demonstrated by the fact that they have found the back of the net in each of their last eight matches and have scored at least twice in each of their last three. As mentioned in that tip for their match against Liverpool, the Palace defence has also been pretty solid and they have not conceded many. However, they have now kept just one clean sheet in their last five.

Sam Allardyce has transformed his side’s home form in the last few weeks and they have not lost in their last four at Selhurst Park, winning three of them, scoring seven and conceding just twice in the process. Furthermore, they kept three clean sheets in those four matches. Having said that, although they recorded a 3-0 win over Arsenal just over a fortnight ago, their home record against the top six, losing all of their matches against them in all competitions this campaign – except that match against Arsenal.

Tottenham lost their seventh successive FA Cup semi-final to their Premier League title rivals Chelsea to end any hopes of achieving a league and cup double. However, this loss now allows them to fully focus on the league in which they are only four points behind Chelsea following seven straight wins.

Unsurprisingly for a team challenging for the league, Spurs have been fantastic in both boxes. They have the best defensive record in the league with just 22 goals conceded in 32 matches alongside a clean sheet percentage of 47%. Additionally, they are the second-highest goalscorers in the division with 68 goals, scoring at least three goals in their last three matches and at least four in the two most recent of those.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men had a bit of a blip in their away form a few weeks ago with just two points taken from a possible nine, however, they have now recovered to win their last two, scoring five and conceding just once in the process. Furthermore, going into this match, it is worth noting that Spurs have won two of the three matches they have played at Selhurst Park since Palace’s last promotion to the top flight.

Although Palace are in excellent form themselves, Tottenham will be desperate to bounce back after another Wembley disappointment and should have the quality come out on top. The visitors are far more clinical and have a superior defence, it’s as simple as that really. ‘Tottenham to Win & Over 1.5 Goals’ is a bet worth placing. Especially since Spurs are a team who’ve scored at least twice in each of their last 11 matches in all competitions.
