This is a huge clash at the bottom of the table as neither of these sides are safe yet. Hull are currently in the bottom three whilst Palace, who are just four points clear, know a loss here would drag them right into the dogfight.

Crystal Palace looked all but safe a few weeks ago after going on a run which contained just one loss in eight matches. However, they are now just four points above the drop-zone after losing three on the spin. A win against Hull will guarantee survival for another year but, anything but means they could need a point or more away at Manchester United on the final day of the season.

Sam Allardyce had seemingly transformed Palace a few weeks ago when his team went on that fantastic run. They were solid at the back, keeping four clean sheets, as well as looking exciting going forward too, scoring two or more goals on four occasions. However, they have lost both of those aspects recently with no clean sheet in their last five, conceding a frightening five at Manchester City last time out, and no goals in their last three. This match against relegation-threatened Hull should allow them to get back on track but they must also avoid complacency.

Selhurst Park is known as one of the most atmospheric grounds in the Premier League and it was a fortress during that aforementioned good run. However, they have now lost their last two, failing to find the back of the net on each occasion.

Hull look in real trouble now as, although they are just one point from safety at the time of writing, by the time they go to Palace on Sunday, they could be four points adrift knowing nothing but a win will do. Last weekend’s home loss against already-relegated Sunderland could really cost them dearly.

Earlier on in Marco Silva’s reign, Hull were enjoying their time in front of goal with a respectable ten goals scored in 16 matches. However, before their recent loss against Sunderland, they had turned themselves into a more solid side, keeping two consecutive clean sheets. It is interesting to note that, prior to those two clean sheets, both teams had scored in their previous four matches.

The Tigers have relied heavily on home form since the turn of the year and that loss against Sunderland was their first in the Premier League in 2017 and put an end to a four-match winning streak at home. However, they will now have to rely on their away form which has been atrocious for the entire season with just one Premier League win – coming all the way back in late August 2016. Given that this is a must-win for Hull, it will be interesting to see what tactics Silva comes up with given their away struggles.

Unfortunately for Hull, I am not sure Silva will be able to out-think Allardyce in the technical area. The latter has a lot of experience and knows how to pick up results in these sort of circumstances. Palace are the favourites here but have still been priced at a rather decent 11/10. However, I am going to go one step further and say ‘Crystal Palace to Win to Nil’, at 5/2, is the way to go. Hull are struggling up front these days and Palace, who’re capable of shutting teams out, will put in a typical Allardyce performance to grind out a win having not conceded.
