These two sides are currently lodged in mid-table but will both feel that, if they can put some sort of miraculous run together, then they can reach the play-offs.

Unfortunately for Charlton, that run really does not look like putting itself together any time soon with no wins in their last four matches which means they are a rather large eight points off the top six.

Karl Robinson’s side may have scored three goals in their last match away at Rochdale but actually they have had real problems in front of goal so far this campaign. Before that match against Rochdale they had scored just twice in their last three and their overall goal tally of 40 in 31 is not good enough.

Defensively though, the Addicks are pretty solid and have only conceded 33 goals in League One this season, keeping a clean sheet in more than a quarter of their matches. Having said that, even this aspect of their game is going a bit awry with no clean sheet in their last five.

Charlton have generally been avoiding defeat at home and have suffered just one loss at The Valley in their last 10 matches in all competitions. However, four of the last six matches on home soil have ended in draws.

Oxford came so close to causing an upset in the FA Cup against Premier League side Middlesbrough at the weekend but were cruelly beaten by a Cristhian Stuani goal after fighting brilliantly to come back from 2-0 down to make the scoreline 2-2.

The U’s did lose their last match in League One but had been on a good run until then with three straight victories.

Michael Appleton’s side certainly pride themselves on their defensive solidity and they have conceded just 33 goals in 30 league matches, keeping a clean sheet on 10 occasions. Up front though they are not so good with just 37 scored – far worse than relegation candidates Bury (50).

Away form has been fantastic for Oxford in the last few weeks with four wins in their last five matches away from the Kassam Stadium. Furthermore, it is also worth noting that the U’s have scored in their last six matches on the road.

Even though they lost at the weekend, Oxford will be able to draw many positives from scoring twice away at Premier League opposition and should be confident of pulling off a result here. Against a Charlton side who are wondering rather aimlessly at the moment, the visitors can come out on top and are worth backing to do so at 19/10.
