Spanish side Celta Vigo look to get over the disappointment of failing to make it through to the Copa del Rey final last week, as well as losing out late in the day to Atlético on Sunday night, when they welcome Ukrainian opposition to Balaídos on Thursday night.

Despite currently being on their winter-break, Shakhtar remain a strong outfit and are certainly a team to be wary of since the Europa League has been a happy hunting ground for the Ukrainians in recent years.

On their day, both of these two are more than capable of posing a significant threat going forward and are certainly no strangers when it comes to scoring goals. On this basis, both keepers could be kept quite busy in this one and the bet that catches the eye, at odds of 11/10, is ‘Over 2.5 Goals’.

During the group stages, there was no holding back from Shakhtar in terms of goals. The Ukrainian side found the net no less than 21 times, and, despite initially keeping three clean sheets, they finished the groups having conceded five. ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ landed in their last two Europa League away matches – matches that saw a total of 14 goals hit the net. It’s fair to say that, in this competition, the crowd certainly got their money’s worth when Shakhtar came to visit.

Celta perhaps didn’t quite match the excitement levels reached by Shakhtar during the groups; however, they certainly proved their ability to score goals in Europe, but also showcased defensive frailties at the same time. Two matches against Ajax, that finished 2-2 and 3-2, demonstrated that Celta can certainly be got at by teams who’re useful going forward – Shakhtar certainly fit into that category.

With players such as the reinvigorated Iago Aspas, Theo Bongonda and Daniel Wass for the hosts and South Americans such as Bernard, Taison and Facundo Ferreyra for the visitors, there will be no shortage of attacking quality on show when these two meet on Thursday evening and it would be no surprise if the fans at Balaídos were treated to plenty of goals.

As these two both favour attack over defence, ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ definitely appeals as the bet to be on ahead of this one.
