Celta Vigo play host to Sevilla at Balaídos on Sunday afternoon as both sides look to continue their push for European football next season.

By their own standards, both of these clubs have made pretty decent starts to the campaign. Sevilla have probably fared the better as they sit in 3rd spot, but Celta Vigo certainly haven’t disappointed and, despite being in 10th, they’re just two points outside of the top-six.

Since a couple of early season blips, Eduardo Berizzo’s Celta have looked a strong outfit on home turf and it might just pay to side with them here. ‘Celta Vigo Draw No Bet’ is the main bet to be on ahead of this fixture, while ‘Celta Vigo to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ is a second worthwhile selection.

Os Célticos are unbeaten in their last nine matches (all-competitions) in front of a home crowd, winning seven of those. They might not have been the sturdiest at the back (just one clean sheet in that time), but they’ve looked very dangerous going forward and the counter-attacking style that they’ll be able to deploy against Sevilla will suit them just fine.

From a goal-scoring perspective, Celta have been in excellent form at Balaídos this season. They’ve notched a total of 15 goals in their seven home league matches, scoring at least twice in five of those (the last five). In particular, they’ve thrived against teams who come out and play (scored four against Barcelona and twice against Valencia) – a tactic that Sevilla aren’t likely to shy away from.

The visitors have enjoyed a good campaign themselves and Jorge Sampaoli will definitely be pleased with the progress made in his first season as manager. However, they’ve not looked the best side defensively and have struggled a bit on their travels. In contrast to their form at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán where they’ve won six and lost one, on the road they’ve won just twice, drawing three and losing two.

From a goals perspective, Sevilla haven’t been as effective going forward when playing away from home either. While ten goals certainly isn’t the worst return, it doesn’t quite match up to their 15 at home. The fact that they’ve conceded 11 on the road, keeping just one clean sheet in the process, won’t sit too well with Sampaoli either, and, considering they face a rampant Celta side, it doesn’t look overly likely that they’ll be recording a second away shut-out any time soon.

An additional bet in this one is ‘Iago Aspas to Score Anytime’. The Spanish forward, having ultimately failed to breakthrough at Liverpool a few years ago, has looked a rejuvenated character for Celta in the last couple of seasons. During the early weeks of this campaign, Aspas has really come to the fore, netting nine goals in the league, while he also picked out the top corner in fine style at Wembley on his International debut.

The number 9 comes into this match having found the net in each of his last two appearances and it would be no surprise if he scored his tenth league goal of the season on Sunday. After all, it’s hard to imagine the forward going without chances and, with the form he’s been in, you’d be a brave punter to back against him taking advantage.
