Leganés v Real Sociedad – probably not the most glamorous of La Liga fixtures, but an interesting match-up nonetheless.

Based on their expectations for this campaign – as a newly promoted side Leganés will want to remain in the division, while Sociedad will likely have their sights set on a European place – both teams, as they sit in 14th and 7th after nine games, will be relatively pleased with how things have gone so far.

If we look at the respective home and away records of these two sides, it would appear that neither have been in good form; however, it is important to consider these matches in context. Leganés have lost each of their last three home matches, although considering they faced Barcelona, Valencia and Sevilla, there’s no great shame in this. Sociedad have lost their last four away matches, but Bilbao, Gijón, Eibar, Villarreal are not the easiest places to go and the visitors certainly shouldn’t be discounted for this fixture based on these results.

From a betting point of view, there could be a case made for both teams and thus backing either to win is not the way to go here. The bet that stands out is ‘Both Teams to Score’. Leganés and Sociedad, although not in the greatest of form, have found goals fairly easy to come by of late, especially in their respective home and away matches.

The hosts have only been shut out in one of their five home matches this season (a 0-0 draw against Atlético Madrid – arguably the best defensive side in Europe). They’ve scored in each of their other four games in front of a home crowd, notching a total of seven goals. As for Sociedad, the visitors have scored in four of their five away matches so far this season – the only time they failed to score was a 2-0 defeat at Eibar, but, considering the fact that they played with ten men since the 24th minute, this can be excused. On top of this, Leganés have conceded in four of their five home matches, letting in no less than 12 goals, while Sociedad have kept just one clean sheet away from home this season and have conceded nine times.

In addition, ‘Both Teams to Score’ has been a popular outcome in both Leganés home matches and Sociedad away games. Both teams found the net in four of the hosts’ five games on their own patch, while the same can be said for Sociedad in four of their five away outings.

In a match that really could go either way, at least a single goal for each team looks highly likely and thus ‘Both Teams to Score’ is the bet to on ahead of this one.
