Cardiff play host to Norwich at The Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday afternoon in a match where both teams should line up in confident mood having won last time out.

Neil Warnock’s Cardiff are a side who, despite losing twice recently, could be making headway in the Championship. While they might not be capable of bridging the ten point gap that separates them and the coveted play-off spots, they can certainly improve on their current standing of 15th. Norwich are also in good form right now having won two on the spin, but both of those came at home and it’s been absolutely no secret that The Canaries have struggled on the road this season.

From a betting point of view, given the visitors’ away-day-woes, it’s worth siding with the hosts ahead of this one. At odds of 6/5 and 19/10 respectively, ‘Cardiff Draw No Bet’ and ‘Cardiff to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ are two selections that make plenty of appeal.

Despite their rather lowly standing in the Championship, Cardiff have been performing well of late, particularly at home. The Bluebirds have won both of their last two fixtures on home soil, scoring three goals and keeping two clean sheets in the process. They’ve looked defensively sound on both of those recent outings while remaining dangerous on the counter at the same time. Considering Warnock’s preference for this style of football, a match against an attacking Norwich City side should leave the Football league veteran licking his lips.

Just as Preston did during mid-week, Norwich are likely to come into this match and attack. After all, that is how Alex Neil’s men tend to operate. Make no mistake about it, the visitors are useful going forward and can certainly score goals, but, when frustrated by teams, they often pay the price defensively. With this in mind, Cardiff will surely fancy their chances of remaining resolute at the back for the third consecutive home fixture before springing into life on the break.

Playing on the road has brought little joy to Neil and his Norwich side this season. The visitors have won just three matches away from home and have lost eight of their other 11. As touched on above, things have gone awry defensively for Norwich when they’ve been without the comforts of home, so much so that they’ve now conceded 28 goals in 14 away matches. Only bottom of the pile Rotherham have conceded more. On top of this, away from home, The Canaries have let in at least two goals on eight occasions.

Norwich do remain a threat going forward, but the recent sale of key-midfielder Robbie Brady to Premier League side Burnley will undoubtedly dent the visiting side’s creativity. Couple this with their defensive plight, and things aren’t exactly looking great for the visitors ahead of this match.

This is the sort of match that sticks out as very winnable one for Cardiff if they get their tactics right. Against a Norwich side who will surely leave space in behind, the hosts, who’ve scored two or more goals six times at home this season, can take advantage.
