Cardiff v Fulham Betting Tips: Warnock’s men can capitalise on home advantage
This FA Cup match is an all-Championship affair as play-off chasing Fulham travel to relegation battlers Cardiff City.
Neil Warnock’s Cardiff are currently undefeated in their last two and have lost just once in six, placing them in 19th and three points above the relegation zone at present.
The Bluebirds don’t score many goals with their record of 27 in 24 worse than most of the teams in and around them. However, their goal-scoring exploits have picked up a bit recently with the Welsh side scoring in each of their last five Championship matches. Unfortunately though, unlike a typical Warnock side, they do leak a fair few at the back with 38 conceded and just one clean sheet in their last five. These two rather disappointing goal statistics means their goal difference of -11 is the joint second worst in the bottom six.
Despite what’s written above, Cardiff do have a pretty good record at home having suffered just one defeat in their last five, picking up three wins in that time.
Fulham are sitting 10th in the Championship and just six points from the play-offs after a run that has seen them lose just twice in their last 10 league fixture – both times to top of the table Brighton & Hove Albion.
Goals are usually the order of the day at The Cottagers’ matches having scored an impressive 41 but conceding 30 in just 24 league games. Slavisa Jokanovic’s side are capable of scoring several against almost any Championship side, as shown by their 5-0 wins over high-flying Huddersfield Town and Reading, however, they are also very susceptible at the back as demonstrated by their 4-4 draw away at Wolves a couple of weeks before Christmas.
The Whites have been famed for their lacklustre away record over the years but this season they have only lost two matches on the road. However, their FA Cup form away from Craven Cottage is not good with no victories in normal time since a 3-1 win over Accrington Stanley back in January 2010.
The recent head-to-head record makes good reading for Cardiff fans with their team not losing at home to Fulham since 1996.
Although I imagine both sides will rotate as they look to focus on the Championship, Cardiff, with a home crowd behind them, have a good opportunity to kick-on and build momentum after their win last time out and can come out on top here. The fact that they’ve performed will against Fulham this season already – 2-2 draw away at Craven Cottage back in August – also bodes well. At 19/10, the hosts are well worth a punt.
