After two rounds of games at the Gold Cup, it’s probably fair to say that Canada have been one of the most impressive teams involved, if not the most. They’ve adopted an attacking style and have certainly entertained the crowds. With four points to their name, they’re looking in good shape and will be confident of making it through to the knockout rounds.

In contrast, Honduras have made a rather low-key start to this tournament as they sit on just a single point. They’re yet to score a goal but hope is not lost and a positive result here could see them progress.

Of the pair, Canada have certainly created a better impression and so you could argue that they’re overpriced here. However, Honduras haven’t been as bad as their results perhaps suggest and so the fact that they’re narrow favourites isn’t the greatest surprise. The bet that stands out is ‘Both Teams to Score’ at a generous-looking 11/10.

As previously mentioned, Canada have really impressed with their direct, attack-focused style; they’ve scored goals and, perhaps more importantly, have created plenty of chances in both of their matches. Having scored five goals already, at the time of writing, they’re the competitions’ highest scorers. 16-year-old Alphonso Davies has announced himself on the big stage in style by notching three goals while Burnley’s Scott Arfield has caused numerous problems with his industrious play.

Even though the Hondurans have conceded just the one goal at this tournament so far, it’s hard to see this Canada side, who’ve scored in both of their matches, failing to find the net here. However, for all their attacking quality, keeping teams out at the other end appears to be a real struggle for the Canucks. They’re yet to keep a clean sheet at this tournament and, perhaps as a result of playing in such an attacking way, have looked very easy to get at. Even a Honduran side that is yet to find the net should feel confident about getting on the score-sheet here.

Given that they’re yet to score and have only conceded once, it would be easy to assume that Honduras are a rather defensive team with little to offer going forward; however, this really isn’t the case. They absolutely should’ve scored, more than once at that, against French Guiana and were certainly not without chances against a deep-lying Costa Rica. What’s more, they’ve been slightly lucky to have been breached on just the one occasion. Given the manner in which Canada have come forward at this tournament already, it’s hard to see the Hondurans keeping a clean sheet but, against a shaky back-line, they really ought to be breaking their goal-scoring duck at the third time of asking.

In a match where both teams will be trying to ensure a positive result in order to progress further, neither rear-guards are expected to hold out and so getting behind ‘Both Teams to Score’ is very much the way to go.
