Ahead of this League One fixture, Fleetwood, despite playing away from home, have been installed as the favourites and, based on their exploits so far this season, rightly so. Having said that, Bury are a rejuvenated side and are not to be taken lightly.

Over the last few weeks, both of these sides have recorded a number of impressive results, particularly in their respective home and away matches. With this in mind, it would be no surprise whatsoever if both put in a good performance here. There are two bets that stand out and these are ‘Both Teams to Score’ and ‘Over 2.5 Goals’.

At first glance, Fleetwood don’t necessarily appear to stand out as ideal ‘Both Teams to Score’ candidates, nor are they are side who’ve made a habit of being involved in high-scoring matches. After all, ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ has landed in just 47% of the Trawlermen’s League One matches this season, while both teams have scored in 55% of their games. However, Bury are one of those teams who seem to welcome goal-filled encounters and, therefore, the visitors may well be powerless to stop the goals from flowing in this one.

One thing that Uwe Rosler’s Fleetwood are is defensively solid – you don’t keep 17 clean sheets by fluke. However, They’ve wobbled slightly of late and Bolton slotting four against them a few short weeks ago proved that they can certainly be got at. You could say that Bury are no Bolton and while that may be true – the league table doesn’t lie – what Bury are is a particularly good attacking side on their own patch. In fact, only four teams in all of League One have scored more goals at home than Bury have this season. Having scored 33 at Gigg Lane, the Shakers have failed to score on just three occasions. Not bad going. On top of this, ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ has landed in a league-high 74% of their home fixtures.

Goals are usually the order of the day from a Bury perspective at Gigg Lane, and with a striker such as James Vaughan (21 league goals this season) in their ranks, it’s easy to see why. Even against the generally sturdy defence of Fleetwood, this attack-minded side are expected to do some damage.

Scoring goals is one thing but keeping them out is another and this is where Bury tend to struggle. Lee Clark’s men have conceded no less than 30 goals at home this season, keeping just four clean sheets in 19 attempts. On this basis, a Fleetwood side who’ve scored in 100% of their away matches in League One this campaign, should get plenty of joy in the final third.

With Bury adopting a rather open, attacking style of play, the goals are never far away – fans at Gigg Lane are expected to be treated to another high-scoring match. This fixture is very much fancied to be the game that finally breaks Fleetwood’s long run of low-scoring away matches and, therefore, ‘Both Teams to Score’ and ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ are two bets that are definitely worth placing.
