This League One match is between two sides at opposite ends of the table as survival hopefuls Bury host play-off chasers Bristol Rovers.

Bury may not have won in two matches but they have certainly turned a corner since the arrival of Lee Clark into the managerial hotseat with just one defeat in his first five matches in charge, winning three of them. This good run has boosted them up to 19th and three points clear of the drop-zone.

The Shakers undoubtedly focus on the top end of the field and their record of 54 scored is the fourth-best in the league – only two teams in the top six have a better record. Their recent draw away at Oldham Athletic was the first time Bury had failed to find the back of the net during Lee Clark’s rein.

Unfortunately though, this attacking style means they concede a ton of goals and their record of 64 against is the worst in the league. Having said that, four clean sheets in the last seven league matches perhaps shows they are improving.

Even before Clark’s arrival, Bury’s home form was starting to improve dramatically and in fact, their recent loss at home to Gillingham was Bury’s first defeat at Gigg Lane since 2nd January.

Bristol Rovers are on a good run of form at the moment with two back-to-back wins and no defeats in their last nine as they look to push for yet another promotion. Unfortunately though, they are still four points off 6th spot and two games out of hand on Millwall who currently occupy the last play-off place.

In similar fashion to Bury, The Gas have been fantastic going forward but pretty dreadful at the back with 56 scored (third-best) and 54 against (fifth-worst). They have scored in each of their last five matches whilst it will also be a relief for manager Darrell Clarke that his side have kept two clean sheets on the bounce in their last two.

Rovers have not been brilliant on their travels this season and their latest away win at Oxford United was the first time they have taken three points away from the Memorial Stadium since 22nd October 2016.

Although they have both kept a few clean sheets recently, there is no doubt that these two sides focus on scoring goals rather than keeping them out. With such an attacking focus, goals at both ends should be on the cards here. ‘Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score’ is the bet to go for at 23/20.
