You can only really see one winner when looking at this fixture. However, favourites Everton have wavered a bit after four consecutive wins and Burnley may smell a bit of weakness from the Toffees.

Newly-promoted Burnley put in a really good shift in the first half against Southampton last week before eventually succumbing to a 3-1 defeat. Whilst manager Sean Dyche will be disappointed his team could not keep their solid defensive display under pressure up for 90 minutes, he will be encouraged by the first half display.

Teams looking to survive in the Premier League rely heavily on home form and so this match against Everton is another key fixture – even if the Clarets are considered serious underdogs. Luckily for Burnley, they have a pretty good record at Turf Moor and have only lost twice their this season, and both of those were tight 1-0 defeats.

In between those two losses against Swansea and Arsenal, Sean Dyche’s team recorded wins over Liverpool and Watford with a draw against Hull City sandwiched in between. The results against the latter two will make particularly pleasant reading for Burnley fans as they know it is absolutely vital to take points off the teams who could be in and around the relegation zone come the end of the season.

Everton were looking like real Champions League contenders a few weeks ago but their sudden dip has seen them drop to sixth after a loss and two draws. However, the last of those draws came away at Manchester City which we must deem an excellent result. As Toffees manager Ronald Koeman said, not many teams will be taking points away from the Etihad this season. Perhaps they are back on the right track after all.

The defensive and goalkeeping performances were a particular highlight for Everton fans last weekend as their team’s back-line put their bodies on the line for the cause and did everything in their power to keep Manchester City out. Maarten Stekelenburg’s goalkeeping display is one of the finest you will see and the Dutchman was unlucky not to keep a clean sheet – especially after saving two Manchester City penalties.

Going the other way, Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku is clearly the man of the moment for Everton with six goals in his last five games, putting him second behind Diego Costa in the Premier League goal-scoring charts. Burnley have a tough afternoon on their hands in dealing with the 23-year-old.

I actually think this will initially be a tighter game than most are expecting. We saw how resolute Burnley can be last week and I expect them to put in a similar performance on Saturday. With this in mind I have gone for the same tip as my winner for Burnley’s match last week with ‘0-0 at Half Time’. The Clarets have an exceptional goals against record at home with no goals conceded in the first half, whilst I imagine Everton’s watertight defence will be able to cope with this conservative Burnley side in the opening 45 minutes..

However, I think Everton will come out on top eventually as they are the superior side here and thus once again, as it was in Burnley’s last fixture, the bet to be on is ‘Half Time/Full Time – Draw/Everton’ at 10/3.

Although I expect it to be a tighter game than some think, the scoreline, considering the attacking prowess and firepower at Everton’s disposal, really ought to show a comfortable Everton win when the referee blows for full time and thus I will also be on  the Toffees to win by an overall margin of two goals or more at 6/4. After time, preferably the second half, the Burnley defence will tire and crack under the constant pressure, just like they did against Southampton last week, which should allow the likes of Romelu Lukaku to take advantage.
