Sunday ‘s lunchtime Premier League match sees Burnley, who will be reasonably happy with their opening trio of games, host Crystal Palace who are having a nightmare start to the campaign.

Burnley managed to collect a valuable point away at title challengers Tottenham Hotspur in their last match before the international break. This was an excellent recovery after their loss to West Bromwich Albion in their previous league fixture.

We all know that the Clarets are unlikely to excite too many this season, but, we also know that they are very capable of getting the job done will give solid performances more often than not. The fact they only conceded once away at Spurs is testament to their defence which seems to have recovered easily from the loss of Michael Keane to Everton in the transfer window. Furthermore, the fact they have found the back of the net in all but one of their competitive matches so far this term shows that they are more than capable up front.

Sean Dyche’s side were sublime at home last season and will see this match against a struggling Palace side as an opportunity to recapture this excellent home form after their loss to West Brom at Turf Moor three weeks ago.

Despite the fact we are only three matches into the new season, there is already talk of there being pressure on Crystal Palace’s new boss Frank De Boer. The former Ajax manager was brought in to change the style of play at Palace, however, an attacking philosophy is pointless if you do not have the players to succeed with it.

The Eagles have had a nightmare at both ends of the field so far this campaign with no goals scored and six goals conceded in their three league outings. However, they did manage to secure the signature of Mamadou Sakho on deadline day to shore up the defence.

Palace have only played one match away from home so far this season – losing to Liverpool – however, it was undoubtedly their best league performance of the season so far which will give them hope going to Burnley on Sunday.

Burnley may have lost their only home match of the season so far but there is a reason they are favourites here. Palace have been abysmal so far and you cannot ignore Burnley’s good home record from last season. Furthermore, the Clarets are a side who clearly know their style of play whilst De Boer is still struggling to form the identity of his team. I expect Sean Dyche’s no-nonsense approach to trump De Boer’s experiment and so Burnley to Win at 7/5 looks a good shout.
