Eintracht Frankfurt v Borussia Dortmund

These two teams have made pleasing starts to the new season. After 11 matches, both sit nicely inside the top seven positions and are separated by goal-difference only.

Dortmund became record breakers during the week after they were involved in an 8-4 win against Polish side Legia – the highest scoring match in Champions League history. Although the score-line is an unusual one, being involved in a high-scoring match certainly isn’t an unusual feeling for this Dortmund side. With great attacking strength and definite defensive frailties, Thomas Tuchel’s side often find themselves taking part in goal-filled affairs.

In contrast, Frankurt have gone about their business in rather low-key fashion this season; however, as they are level on points with their opponents here, such a style is proving to be just as effective. Niko Kovač’s men have conceded less goals than 14 of the 18 Bundesliga teams this season and are becoming known as a well-oiled machine. However, it doesn’t seem to matter who you are, a game against Dortmund simply encourages goals these days and thus another high-scoring encounter could be on the cards here.

The bet to go for is ‘Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score’. Dortmund are known to come out and attack whoever it is they might be playing and they are very often rewarded for doing so. Having said this, BVB are certainly not the sturdiest at the back, especially on their travels where they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet yet this campaign. With this in mind, a Frankfurt team who’ve scored nine goals in their five home matches should be capable of threatening and are expected to find the net at least once here.

In addition, a combination of both teams scoring and three or more goals going in has occurred in three of Frankfurt’s five at home and in three of Dortmund’s five away. When they meet on Saturday afternoon, both teams have the tools to unlock each other and goals all-round are fancied.

Köln v Augsburg

The Bundesliga has seen a number of teams impress this season and Köln are certainly one of them. Having won six, drawn three and lost two, Die Geißböcke find themselves fourth in the table.

As for Augsburg, Saturday’s visitors haven’t exactly made the best start to the campaign, although, then again, they haven’t made the worst start either. Nobody would’ve expected miracles from this side and, having beaten the drop by just two points last season, their current position of 12th (five points clear of the relegation places) suggests that they’ve actually done OK. However, an away trip to Cologne is a tough task and Dirk Schuster’s men aren’t expected to improve on their standing this weekend.

The bet that catches the eye here, at odds of 13/10, is ‘Köln to Win & Over 1.5 Goals’. The hosts have looked incredibly hard to get the better of at home this season and, with four wins to their name from five attempts, they are currently unbeaten at the RheinEnergieStadion. On top of this, Peter Stöger’s side have scored 11 goals on home turf, scoring at least twice in four of their five matches. The fact that they’ve only conceded two goals, keeping three clean sheets, also bodes well.

Augsburg might not have been abysmal on the road but they haven’t been great. They did manage to secure wins over both Bremen and Ingolstadt, although with the form that those two have been in this campaign, neither of those results look anything special. The two times they’ve faced opposition who’ve impressed, they’ve lost – two defeats that both saw at least two goals go in.

All things considered, in front of their own fans, Köln have really impressed this season and they come into this match off the back of an important away victory in the Rhine Derby last weekend. With this in mind, the home side are likely to be brimming with confidence. Talking of confidence, one player in particular who should be sky-high right now is Anthony Modeste. Not only did the French forward net the equaliser in last Saturday’s derby against Gladbach, but he’s the Bundesliga joint-top scorer this season with 11 goals. The 28-year-old has also scored in four of his sides five home matches this season. A man in-form is dangerous to dismiss and, at odds of 7/5, ‘Anthony Modeste to Score Anytime‘ is another good bet ahead of this one.

Borussia Mönchengladbach v Hoffenheim

It’s been an up and down season for Gladbach so far. Having finished fourth last campaign, big things were expected from André Schubert’s team this year, although, as of yet, they’ve flattered to deceive.

Hoffenheim have done no such thing and are currently enjoying a very fruitful spell under the stewardship of the Bundesliga’s youngest ever manager. Julian Nagelsmann is yet to see his side taste defeat this season and, given the way that they’ve confidently gone about their business so far, they are fancied to get another positive result when they visit Borussia Park on Saturday afternoon.

At odds of 9/5, ‘Hoffenheim Draw No Bet’ is a good way to play this fixture. The visitors have looked arguably better on the road than they have done in front of their own fans this season and can continue their good form here.

Over the last few seasons, the hosts have been known as a dominant force on their own patch, although this season they’ve struggled to showcase that dominance – winning just half of their six fixtures on home soil. They lost the Rhine Derby last weekend and were held by a Man City team who were seemingly playing in second gear during the week. Prior to these two fixtures, Gladbach drew against both Frankfurt and Celtic on home soil and are now without a win at Borussia Park in four consecutive matches. On the other hand, Hoffenheim secured a very impressive point away at Bayern Munich last time they traveled and defeated Bayer Leverkusen by three goals to nil in their previous away match.

Not only have the visitors had a clear week to prepare for this fixture, the way that Gladbach are likely to play will suit them down to the ground. The hosts aren’t going to sit back at home and will come out and play, that’s for sure. An in-form Gladbach would get most teams worried in doing this but an in-form Gladbach is not what we’re seeing right now. Far from it. Hoffenheim have looked secure at the back this season and are more than happy playing on the counter. Such tactics could quite easily bare fruit on Saturday and the visitors are fancied to come away with at least a draw, although if the three points are going one way or another then the visitors are the only team to side with at this moment in time.
