Brooklyn Nets
The Nets got off to a slow start in game one in the first two quarters as their star trio Durant, Harden, and Irvine combined to score just 11 of 32 shots. In the third quarter though an 18-4 saw coach Steve Nash’s team turn a six-point deficit into an eight-point lead and scored four of their five shots from the arc after missing all ten attempts in the first half.
The championship hopefuls proved they can overcome any slip-up in a match. The trio combined to score 82 points between them with Kevin Durant adding 12 rebounds to his game-high 32 points. There is still a margin for improvement especially in the three-point area as the Nets shot just 23.5%, well below their season average of 39.2%.
Boston Celtics
After a great start to the first half of the first match of the series, the Celtics gave in to the Nets as their star player Jayson Tatum struggled in the second half scoring just seven points due to the fierce defense the home side played on the Celtic forward. Coach Brad Stevens’ bench kept them in the game for much of the game but they couldn’t resist Kevin Durant’s surge in the second half.
The Celtics didn’t score any three-point shots from seven attempts in the third quarter after the Nets closed their shooters down. That paved the way for Kevin Durant and co to come back to the game as the Celtics scored just eight of their 25 field goal attempts in the third quarter. Stevens will have to find solutions to stop the Nets from taking control of the game as they did in the second half of game one.
Key Stats
- The Nets shot 47% from all distances in game one

- The Celtics have lost the last five meetings with the Nets
- The Celtics have scored over 100 points twice in their last five matches against the Nets
Brooklyn Nets vs Boston Celtics Prediction
The Brooklyn Nets showed they are capable of overcoming difficulties that they might face in matches and turn things around for their advantage. As we saw in the first game, Kevin Durant stepped up to make the difference this time around
We think the Nets still can improve from that first game and that will make things harder for the Celtics. Relying just on Jayson Tatum will not help coach Stevens as he needs more players to step up and take the initiative on the offensive side.
We think a second win for the Brooklyn Nets is on the table as Steve Nash’s players will have an even better performance in the second game.
