These two sides have been in a relegation battle for much of the latter part of the season and, although Wolves have pulled themselves away, Bristol City are very much still in it.

After going four matches unbeaten, Bristol City are now hitting a bad patch at one of the worst possible times having now lost two on the bounce. In fact, they performed so badly in their last match away at Preston North End, losing 5-0, that the club have refunded the away fans. City sit just one point above the drop-zone and are in an incredibly vulnerable position.

It had looked like the Robins had sorted out their dodgy defence in their four-match unbeaten run, during which they conceded just one goal, however, they have now reverted to type and have now conceded seven in their last two. Particularly with on loan Chelsea man Tammy Abraham up front, City have not had much difficulty in finding the back of the net and even managed to score five against promotion chasers Huddersfield Town a while back. Unfortunately though, they have now failed to score in their last two. Having said that, their total Goals For record of 50 is still the second-best in the bottom five.

The majority of Lee Johnson’s side’s aforementioned four-game unbeaten spell was at home and they have generally been pretty good on home soil recently with just one defeat in their last six. However, they also won just two of those matches. Bristol City really need wins, not draws, at this stage.

Wolves have bounced back fantastically following a run of just one point from a possible 18 and have now won their last five. This has thrust them well away from the danger-zone and they now have an 11-point cushion along with a game in hand. This should be enough to guarantee them safety.

Paul Lambert’s men have managed to sort out their defence in their sublime recent run and they have conceded just three goals in their last six matches and also kept three clean sheets. Wolves have managed to combine this miserly defence with a potent attack, hence their recent run, and, although they only scored once against Forest last time out, they had found the back of the net eight times in the three games prior to that.

Although Wolves have improved at home in the last few weeks, they still have a better away record than they do at home. In fact, Lambert’s side have the sixth-best away record in the league with 27 points taken from 20 matches on their travels. Furthermore, they have taken seven points from a possible nine in their last three away from Molineux.

Bristol City may be going well at home at the moment but, the fact they are clearly suffering from a general lack of confidence, means they will probably find it difficult here, especially against a Wolves side so good on the road. The away win is a tad too big to resist at 19/10. Lambert’s men have hit a purple patch and can continue on the up.
