Bristol City v Fulham Betting Tips: Cottagers to resume scoring ways

Feb 20 2017

These two Championship sides were hoping for a play-off place at the start of the season but hosts Bristol City are now facing a very different battle near the bottom of the table whilst Fulham are still in with a shout towards the other end.

Bristol City currently sit just two points above the relegation zone after falling down the table like a stone following a good start to the season. The Robins have only won one of their last 12 Championship games and even that was against bottom-of-the-table Rotherham United.

Lee Johnson’s side are certainly better going forward than they are at the back with 42 goals scored, registering in all but one of their last 10 league games. The defence has been incredibly shoddy with just five clean sheets in the entire campaign so far.

The Robins won their last home match to end a run of six matches without a victory at Ashton Gate. This, along with their previous draw against play-off chasers Sheffield Wednesday, perhaps shows that there are signs of improvement at City.

Fulham were involved in cup action at the weekend and were roundly trounced by Premier League Tottenham Hotspur 3-0. However, they were probably the only underdog to put in a disappointing performance against superior opposition and the Cottagers seemed to lack any sort of desire against Spurs. The Championship has been a happier hunting ground for them though with two wins in their last two, putting them up to 8th in the table, nine points off the play-offs with a game in hand.

As we saw against Spurs, Fulham try to play football and you could see why they score plenty of goals in the Championship (52 in 31 matches) but you could also see why they concede plenty (37) and why they have not kept a clean sheet in their last four in all competitions.

Slavisa Jokanovic’s side have one of the best away records in the division with 23 points taken from 15 matches, however, they have not been showing that recently with two losses in their last three games away from Craven Cottage.

Despite this rather poor form on the road in recent weeks, Fulham simply look a superior side to Bristol City and they’re a good bet to win at Ashton Gate. The hosts continue to struggle defensively and I would not be surprised if they are in the bottom three come the end of the season. The Cottagers will certainly have too much attacking power for this leaky Bristol back-line and, therefore, ‘Fulham to Win & Over 1.5 Goals’, at 15/8, looks a very good bet.
