These two sides are unlikely to do anything else this season as Brentford are marooned in mid-table whilst Derby look unlikely to make up the seven point gap between themselves and the play-offs.

Brentford’s season may essentially be over in terms of achieving anything, however, they are still doing well at the moment having won three of their last four matches.

In typical Dean Smith style, Brentford Bees have certainly focused on the attacking side of their game throughout the campaign and have the fifth-best offensive record in the division with a brilliant 65 goals scored. Additionally, they have found the back of the net in each of their last five matches – scoring 11 overall. Defensively though they are not particularly good with 59 against. However, it is worth mentioning that they have kept two clean sheets in their last three games.

Those two clean sheets both came at home in a good recent run at Griffin Park which has seen them win four of their last seven.

Gary Rowett has had a fantastic start to his time at Derby and has already recorded three wins in his first four matches. His last victory away at Birmingham City, where he was strangely sacked back in December, will no doubt have been the sweetest. Derby still have a shout as far as play-offs are concerned but it is still highly unlikely they will make it. This is now very much about building momentum for next season.

Even before Rowett arrived, the Rams were solid at the back and they have maintained this miserliness in defence to ensure they still have the sixth-best defensive record in the Championship. Additionally, they have kept 17 clean sheets this campaign – although one since Rowett arrived a few weeks ago. However, they have also proved recently that they can be good going forward having scored in every match since Rowett’s arrival.

The Rams are unbeaten on their travels since Rowett arrived and have scored four goals in the two games he has taken charge of. However, they have still failed to keep an away clean sheet under his guidance.

Although Brentford are particularly good at home at the moment, Derby have a bit more to play for. Additionally, Rowett seems to have brought a new vigour to his Derby side which should see them through here. Furthermore, Rowett has won his last three matches against Brentford. At 33/20, Derby are worth backing to continue on the up.
