After failing to score in the first-leg, Dortmund have it all to do as they now face Portuguese side Benfica in this second-leg, but, luckily, as turning on the style in front of a home crowd goes, BVB are up there with the best and have more than enough quality to turn things around at Westfalenstadion on Wednesday night.

Despite losing the first-leg, Dortmund probably won’t be too discouraged with their performance. Tuchel’s men dominated proceedings and on another day would’ve scored two or three. Back on their own patch, the German outfit could quite easily prove far too strong for a Benfica side who’ve be unable to match their home form when playing on the road in Europe recently.

‘Dortmund to Score in Both Halves’ and ‘Dortmund to Score Over 2.5 Goals’, at odds of 21/20 and 11/8 respectively, are the two angles of attack ahead of this one.

When playing at Westfalenstadion, Dortmund, with their embarrassment of attacking riches, really do have the potential to be devastating going forward. Tuchel’s men have scored 28 goals on home soil in the Bundesliga this season, scoring at least three on five occasions. In addition, the hosts found the net no less than 21 times during the groups stages of this competition (more than any other team), scoring at least three on two occasions. They also scored twice both home and away against European giants Real Madrid – against a Benfica side who conceded seven goals in their three away fixtures during the groups, shipping at least three in two of those, BVB are likely to enjoy plenty of success in the final third.

Scoring goals either side of half-time is also something that’s familiar to this Dortmund side. Tuchel has witnessed his team find the net in both the first and second half in 55% of their home matches in the Bundesliga this season, including in both of their last two. Scoring six against Leverkusen at the weekend was the ideal warm up, and, if in a similar mood here, the hosts could simply blow Benfica out of the water from early on.

Benfica might currently have the aggregate lead, but it would be a big surprise if Dortmund were unable to put the visitors under considerable pressure on their own patch. This pressure is likely to tell (probably sooner rather than later) and, therefore, backing the home side to bag a glut of goals is the way to go.
