Bastia v Nantes Betting Tips: Both teams can profit at Stade Armand Cesari

Feb 28 2017

The sole fixture in the French top flight on Wednesday night sees Nantes travel to the island of Corsica to take on relegation-scrappers Bastia.

There might be ten points between these two in the table, but, in reality, there probably isn’t too much between them in terms of quality. Bastia, despite being in the relegation zone, have scored the same amount of goals as their opponents and have conceded just a single goal more. Nantes have simply had a better knack of clinging on to 1-0 wins, whereas the Corsican side have recorded far too many draws.

Despite the disparity in league placings, there’s reason to believe that both of these two can hurt each other from a forward perspective and, therefore, the bet to go for is ‘Both Teams to Score’ at a seemingly generous price of 5/4.

The hosts might find themselves in the midst of a relegation battle, but several of their recent outings have proved that they’re capable of competing and it would be no surprise if this continued to be the case in this fixture. Despite being outclassed by most of the big teams, François Ciccolini’s men have actually acquitted themselves pretty well from an attacking point of view, especially at home, failing to score in just three of 13 fixtures at Stade Armand Cesari.

The fact that Bastia have scored in each of their last seven at home, losing just one of those, bodes well, and further proves that this side perhaps aren’t quite the pushovers that the league table suggests. However, while they’ve held their own from an attacking point of view, keeping goals out has been a bit of a problem. Four of their five clean sheets may have come at home, but Bastia have failed to keep a clean sheet in four of their last five, and in eight of their last ten on home soil. In addition, both teams have scored in 62% of Bastia’s home matches this season.

As far as scoring and conceding goes, Nantes are in a similar position. The visitors come into this match having found their scoring touch lately with seven goals in their last three matches, but they’ve failed to shut their opposition out in all three of those and have kept just three clean sheets on the road this season.

In recent weeks, Sérgio Conceição’s team have held their travelling form quite well, losing just once in their last five away matches, scoring in all but one of those.

Of the two, it is Nantes who’re probably performing at the higher level right now and they’re likely to be in confident mood ahead of this fixture. However, the hosts certainly shouldn’t be discounted and continue to prove their attacking credentials in front of their own fans.

All things considered, ‘Both Teams to Score’ looks the soundest option and is certainly worth being on at the eye-catching price of 5/4.
