Barcelona at home against very inferior opposition is usually a guaranteed win for the Catalans. Having said that, Celtic have had some great nights against Barcelona in recent years and should not be taken lightly here.

Luis Enrique’s side are the favourites for the competition for a very good reason with their incredible squad and you would think they will at least make the final this year. However, Barca stumbled to a defeat at home to newly-promoted Alaves, proving they are not completely invincible, although it must be said that they rested a number of players and were most likely looking ahead to this tie against Celtic.

Despite this loss they will still likely come out on top against Celtic but I doubt it will be a complete walk-over.

Celtic recorded an excellent Old Firm victory over their rivals Rangers and sit pretty at the top of the Scottish Premiership. Of course Barcelona is a completely different challenge, but it is one that Brendan Rodgers’ side will relish. Injured striker Leigh Griffiths is an obvious loss but Moussa Dembele proved with his hat-trick on Saturday that he is an incredibly capable deputy.

The Scottish champions actually played Barcelona in a pre-season friendly (losing 3-1) which will have allowed them to become a bit more acquainted with the superstars against them on Tuesday night. They have done well against Barca in recent years and have usually scored, even at the Nou Camp, where they’ve actually scored in four of their last six games. With this in mind, combined with their current scoring form, I would certainly back them to score here.

Do not underestimate the fire that will be burning in the Celtic bellies. They have nothing to lose and we can expect a heroic display.

With the above mentioned statistic, the obvious bet to go for here is Both Teams to Score which you can get at 11/8 – good value compared to the price usually given on this market. Although there is extra pressure on them after the Alaves result at the weekend, you can add a very likely Barcelona win into that for a nicely priced 7/4 which seems too good to turn down.
