Both of these teams will have been pretty happy to have drawn each other in the Champions League quarter finals given the other teams they could have gone up against. This duo will certainly fancy their chances here.

Atletico earned a 1-1 draw against league leaders and city rivals Real Madrid at the weekend to extend their unbeaten run to eight in all competitions. Atletico are often known as the underdog but it is well worth noting that they have reached two of the last three European Cup finals.

Diego Simeone’s has his side very well drilled and they are probably one of the meanest defences in the entire of European football. This is demonstrated by the fact they have the joint-best Goals Against record in La Liga so far this campaign whilst they have also kept five clean sheets in their last seven matches in all competitions. Their record in front of goal does not even come within touching distance of Real and Barca in La Liga, but, they are still third best in the league and are no doubt a threat going forward.

Atleti are on a good run at home at the moment having gone unbeaten in their last four in all competitions, scoring seven and conceding just one. Having said that, they still only have the fifth-best home record in La Liga so far this campaign. However, in the Champions League, the Estadio Vicente Calderon has been a fortress for a long time with no defeats in their last nine on home turf, winning eight of them whilst they have also kept eight clean sheets in those nine games.

Leicester’s winning streak game to a thumping end on Sunday afternoon as they went down 4-2 at Everton. New manager Craig Shakespeare rotated his side for that match at Goodison Park with this game in mind. As they are probably safe now, Leicester are clearly focusing on the Champions League.

Craig Shakespeare has brought back the Leicester of old in that they generally concede few and are then lethal in front of goal. Prior to that match at Everton, the Foxes had conceded just five goals in their last six, keeping three clean sheets, and scored 15. However, could the rotation over the weekend upset Leicester’s rhythm?

Away form has always been a thorn in Leicester’s side, even when they won the title two seasons ago. Shakespeare has only taken charge of two away games so far and has a 50% win ration – not too bad after a run of four consecutive away losses. Away form has also been a bit problematic in the Champions having lost their last two and winning just once in Europe this campaign.

Atletico are the undoubted favourites here and therefore there is little value to be had in backing them. However, the hosts aren’t exactly known for their goal-scoring exploits. Although they’re likely to come out on top, ‘2-3 Total Goals’, at 11/10, is the way to go. The hosts probably can’t be expected to run riot, that’s not really their style, while Leicester could struggle to really get going up top against a solid back-line.
